The Bleed

The Bleed
Coming Soon

In the sterile silence fifty floors above a rain-slicked Seattle, Analyst 734 performs his vital, invisible function: meticulously erasing the digital ghosts of those deemed inconvenient by the monolithic Organisation he serves. His life is a carefully constructed exercise in anonymity and control, anchored by routine and the obsessive pursuit of physical endurance.

But when a routine sanitization task triggers impossible system glitches, revealing a screaming face that knows him and the cryptic name 'Nyx', the walls of his curated reality begin to bleed. Pulled into a labyrinth of fragmented memories, corporate espionage, and terrifying technological power, Analyst 734 must confront the ghosts of his past to survive a future where the line between data and reality has become dangerously blurred.

[Prologue]

Execute

Marcus Thorne checked the ferry schedule on his console display again. Five minutes late. He sighed, drumming his fingers on the steering wheel, humming absently to the retro synthwave pulsing from the car speakers. Plenty of time. He'd just grab a coffee near the terminal. Just another Monday commute across Seattle.

Target vehicle acquired. OmniCorp VP Thorne, M. Location: Approaching Alaskan Way Viaduct South entrance. Threat probability: 78.3%. The data scrolled across a hardened tablet screen inside a nondescript panel van parked three blocks away.

"He's on schedule," Glitch murmured, eyes fixed on the stream of telemetry pulled wirelessly from Thorne's vehicle – a Delphix 7 system, notoriously insecure.

Silas watched the corresponding drone feed – a tiny, stabilized dot high above showing Thorne's sedan merging into traffic. He nodded almost imperceptibly. "Threat confirmed. Protocol Omega is authorized. Execute on approach to Sector Gamma." Sector Gamma was their designation for the tight S-curve on the ferry exit ramp.

Thorne accelerated smoothly into the tunnel, the city sounds momentarily replaced by the rush of enclosed air. The synthwave track hit its crescendo. He barely registered a momentary flicker on the dashboard's diagnostic display - probably just a sensor adjusting to the tunnel pressure.

Payload compiled. Targeting CAN bus via Delphix exploit. ESC/ABS conflict injection ready. Glitch's fingers moved rapidly, confirming the exploit package was loaded. He armed the trigger, linking it to the car's real-time speed, steering angle, and brake sensor data monitored through the compromised telematics. Waiting for the precise parameters.

Silas watched the drone feed track the sedan through the tunnel. His expression remained neutral, analytical. Just another variable requiring adjustment.

Thorne's car emerged from the tunnel into the grey drizzle, heading for the ferry ramp. He eased off the accelerator as he entered the sharp curve, his hands making a minor adjustment on the wheel. 40 mph. Exactly as predicted.

Parameters met. Glitch's finger tapped the final execution command on his tablet screen. Payload deployed.

For Marcus Thorne, reality fractured. The steering wheel wasn't just heavy; it felt possessed, ripping violently to the right with impossible force, tearing itself from his grip. Simultaneously, a horrifying screech erupted from the front-left tire as the ABS locked it solid, even as the car itself seemed to lurch sideways with unnatural momentum. The concrete divider of the ramp rushed towards the windscreen not as a stationary object but as an accelerated impact point. There wasn't even time to scream.

Target telemetry ceased. Visual confirmation: catastrophic impact, kinetic energy transfer complete, thermal event initiated. The drone feed clinically displayed the wreckage, already blooming into flames against the wet concrete.

Silas watched for another beat, confirming the lack of emergency response from the vehicle's automated systems. He nodded curtly. "Log it. Protocol Omega successful. Probability of accidental cause: 96.8%. Proceed to next objective."

On Silas's secure device, the status for Target 7F-Delta updated to Closed. A new designation blinked onto the active queue, awaiting analysis, awaiting protocol. The rain continued to fall on Seattle.
